| despised | To regard with contempt, distaste, disgust, or disdain. I despised him for his horrible deed. |
| worshiped | Reverent honor and homage paid to God or a sacred personage, or to any object regarded as sacred. I worshiped him honestly, for he is a just God. |
| grit | Firmness of character; indomitable spirit; pluck. It took a lot of grit to ride that roller coaster. |
| scalding | To burn or affect painfully with or as if with hot liquid or steam. The scalding water burned terribly, like the sun on a summer day. |
| discarded | To cast aside or dispose of. I discarded that trash right into the dumpster. |
| nauseatingly | To cause or feel extreme disgust. The amusement park ride nauseatingly spun in circles |
| outlaw | A lawless person or habitual criminal, especially one who is a fugitive from the law. The outlaw set the explosive, ready to take the money as soon as it blew. |
| suburbs | A district lying immediately outside a city or town, especially a smaller residential community. We drove by the suburbs lying next to the big city, hoping one was for sale for us to live in. |
| pandemonium | wild uproar or unrestrained disorder: tumult or chaos. It was a pandemonium in the lunch room, food flying everywhere. |
| allotted | To divide or distribute by share or portion; distribute or parcel out; apportion My grandfather allotted a sum of 100 dollars with my cousins and I. |
| unjust | Lacking in justice or fairness. The teacher was unjust, giving us a test when we just started the unit. |
| thrashed | To beat soundly in punishment; flog. The little kids thrashed the bully, being the heroes they were. |
| primly | In a proper, neat, precise, or fastidious way. I stood primly in front of the president, making sure to look nice. |
| inherited | To take or receive by succession or will, as an heir. I inherited my grandma's gold necklace when she died. |
| distribution | To divide and give out in shares; deal out; allot. I distributed the burgers to the homeless. |
| repulsive | To drive back; repel. I could tell he didn't want me there by his repulsive behavior. |
| conspicuous | Easily seen or noticed; readily visible or observable. The little kid trying to sneak into the teacher's lounge was very conspicuous. |
| conceited | Having an excessively favorable opinion of one's abilities, appearance, etc. She is very conceited when it comes to her grades. |
| consolation | To alleviate or lessen the grief, sorrow, or disappointment of; give solace or comfort. We tried to console him when his oldest pet died. |
| consolidated | To bring together into a single or unified whole; unite; combine. They consolidated their ideas to create an epic building. |
