Greek to GCSE

Medea - pg.12/14

TermDefinition
Chorus: I will do these things; for rightly, you will take vengeance on your husband, Medea. And I am not surprised that you lament your fortune.
But I actually see Creon coming, ruler of this land, bearing news of fresh decisions.
Creon: σὲ τὴν σκυθρωπὸν καὶ πόσει θυμουμένην, Μήδει᾽, ἀνεῖπον τῆσδε γῆς ἔξω περᾶν φυγάδα, Creon: I publicly tell you, Medea, scowling and furious with your husband, to go outside this land as an exile,
λαβοῦσαν δισσὰ σὺν σαυτῇ τέκνα, καὶ μή τι μέλλειν· ὡς ἐγὼ βραβεὺς λόγου τοῦδ᾽ εἰμί, taking your two children with you, and do not delay at all; since I am the judge of this decree,
κοὐκ ἄπειμι πρὸς δόμους πάλιν πρὶν ἄν σε γαίας τερμόνων ἔξω βάλω. and I will not go away back to my home until I have thrown you out of the boundaries of my land.
Medea: Oh! Ah! I am utterly ruined, wretched and destroyed; for indeed my enemies are letting out all the rope and not there is not easy way out from ruin.
ἐρήσομαι δὲ καὶ κακῶς πάσχουσ᾽ ὅμως· τίνος μ᾽ ἕκατι γῆς ἀποστέλλεις, Κρέον; But although I am suffering badly, nevertheless I shall ask, for what reason do you send me away from your land, Creon?
συμβάλλεται δὲ πολλὰ τοῦδε δείγματα· Creon: I am afraid (there is no need to hide my reasons) that you may do some irreparable evil to my child. And many pieces of evidence contribute to this:
σοφὴ πέφυκας καὶ κακῶν πολλῶν ἴδρις, λυπῇ δὲ λέκτρων ἀνδρὸς ἐστερημένη. you are clever by nature and skilled in many evils, and you feel pain because you have been deprived of your husband's bed.
