15 Chem Vocab words

TermDefinition
Periodic relating to the periodic table of the elements or the pattern of chemical properties that underlies it.
Vertical at right angles to a horizontal plane; in a direction, or having an alignment, such that the top is directly above the bottom.
Horizontal parallel to the plane of the horizon; at right angles to the vertical.
Atom the basic unit of a chemical element.
Molecule a group of atoms bonded together, representing the smallest fundamental unit of a chemical compound that can take part in a chemical reaction.
Element each of more than one hundred substances .
Property an attribute, quality, or characteristic of something.
Extended Structure a three-dimensional arrangement of atoms or molecules where a specific pattern repeats throughout the material, creating a larger, continuous structure.
subscript (of a letter, figure, or symbol) written or printed below the line.
Coefficient a multiplier or factor that measures some property.
Product an article or substance that is manufactured or refined for sale.
Reactant a substance that takes part in and undergoes change during a reaction.
Chemical Reaction the processes by which chemicals interact to form new chemicals with different compositions.
Rearrange change (the position, time, or order of something).
