Adding and Subtracting Fractions Vocabulary
| Term | Definition |

| Fraction | A number that represents part of a whole, written in the form of a/b, where "a" is the numerator and "b" is the denominator. |
| Numerator | The top number in a fraction that shows how many parts are being considered. |
| Denominator | The bottom number in a fraction that shows how many equal parts the whole is divided into. |
| Common Denominator | A shared multiple of the denominators of two or more fractions, used to simplify adding or subtracting fractions. |
| Like denominators | Fractions that have the same denominator. |
| Unlike denominators | Fractions that do not have the same denominator. |
| Simplify | To reduce a fraction to its simplest form, where the numerator and denominator have no common factors other than 1. |
| Equivalent fractions | Fractions that represent the same value, even if they have different numerators and denominators. |
