Adaptations

TermDefinition
Inherited trait a characteristic of an organism that is passed down from parent to offspring
Variations differences in inherited traits within the same species

Selective breeding the process in which humans breed organisms for desired traits
Heredity the process of passing genetic material, or genes
Genes Segments of DNA that determine inherited traits, such as eye color, fur type and petal shape, that parent organisms pass down to their offspring
Alleles Different versions of genes that encode for variations in a trait
Chromosome a thread-like structure that carries genetic information in the form of genes
