These are the 20 vocabulary words from our novel study of Frindle.

| acquire | To become the owner of. |
| awkward | Lacking skill, balance or coordination; not graceful. |
| blurt | to say something suddenly or without thinking |
| commotion | a lot of noisy, excited activity |
| controversial | Something causing a disagreement, argument or a dispute. |
| crimson | A deep, purplish red. |
| endures | Put up with something or somebody unpleasant. |
| essential | of the highest importance, necessary |
| fad | something everyone is interested in for a short time. |
| forbid | to order not to do something |
| impatient | tired of waiting; unable to stay calm anymore |
| imprint | an image left when an object is pressed into something |
| oath | A pledge or promise to act a certain way. |
| phony | Fake; or not real. |
| preliminary | Done or happening before the main or most important part. |
| ruckus | The act of making a noisy disturbance. |
| villain | Evil or wicked character in a story, movie, or play |
