estimate approximate answer gotten by calculating compatible numbers quickly and easily mentally
digit symbol for writing numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9
operation one of four actions you do in math addition, subtraction, multiplication or division
decimal number that has digits in the tenths, hundredths, thousandths places, etc.
equivalent having the same value, but not expressed the same way
value worth
property a rule in mathematics that is always true found in addition and multiplication
prime number a number that has exactly 2 factors
composite number a number that has more than 2 factors a number that has 3 or more factors
variable a number that represents an unknown or missing value it will change from problem to problem
divisor number that is dividing the number outside the division frame
evaluate find the value or worth of an expression or problem
expression math phrase with at least one number, one variable, and one operation
equation math sentence containing an equal sign
