scientific method a orderly method for gaining, organizing, and applying new knowledge
fact a close agreement by competent observers of a series of observations of the same phenomena
hypothesis and educated guess, a reasonable explanation of and observation or expirimental result that is not fully recognized as factual until tested over and over again by expirimentation
law a general hypothesis or statement about the relationship of natural quantities that has been tested over and over again and has not been contradicted. also known as a principal.
theory a synthesis of a large body of information that encompases well tested and varified hypothesis about the aspect of the natural world.
