homophone A word pronounced the same as another word but differs in spelling, meaning, or origin
megaphone A portable, hand-held, funnel-shaped device used to amplify a person's natural voice
microphone an instrument to augment or amplify small sounds particularly the human voice
symphony a full orchestral concert; harmony
sound vibrations that travel through the air or another medium and can be heard when they reach a person's or animal's ear.
sonnet A short poem of fourteen lines.
sonic relating to sound as in "sonic waves".
sonic boom An explosive sound caused by the shock wave preceding an aircraft traveling at or above the speed of sound.
sonata A tune intended for an instrument only as cantata is for the voice.
consonant 1. A letter so named because only works in connection with a vowel. A letter that has to sound with a vowel. 2. an adjective that describes things that are "agreeable".
dissonance bad sound; discord. A harsh discordant combination of sounds
resonant resounding; returning sound; echoing back. Deep and rich sound.
sonourous a deep rich sound; as a sonorous voice
unison In music; having one harmonious sound; accordance of sounds.
