Fractions

TermDefinition
fraction any part of a group, number, or whole
numerator top part of a fraction; shows the number of parts of the whole
denominator bottom part of a fraction; shows the TOTAL number of parts
equivalent equal; have the same value or amount
factor a number that is multiplied by another number to get a product evenly
multiple the product you get when a number is multiplied by another number (ex. skip counting)
simplify bring a fraction to its lowest terms
mixed number a whole number and a fraction; value is greater than one
improper fraction when the numerator is larger than the denominator
