| evaluate | to find the value of a numerical or algebraic expression. |
| exponent | a number that shows how many times the base is used factor. |
| factor | a number multiplied by another number to find a product. |
| like terms | expressions that have the same variable with the same exponent. |
| numerical expressions | a mathematical phrase that uses only numbers and operation signs. |
| order of operations | a set of rules which give the order in which calculations are done in an expression. |
| product | the answer to a multiplication problem. |
| quotient | the number results from dividing. |
| sum | the answer to an addition problem. |
| terms | the parts of an expression that are separated by an addition or subtraction sign. |
| variable | a letter or symbol that stands for an unknown number or numbers. |
