a triangle with 3 angles less than 90 degrees acute triangle
two angles that have a common side and a common vertex but do not overlap. The angles are next to each other adjacent angles
the amount of space occupied by a two dimensional figure area
a special pair of angles formed when a transversal intersects two lines. They occur on the same side of the transversal and are in the same side of each of the lines. corresponding angles
sides or angles of SIMILAR polygons that occupy the same relative positions corresponding parts
one of three equal factors of a number cube root
the numbers used to count. Also called natural numbers counting numbers
the variable in an equation whose value is determined by the value chosen for on or more other variables. dependent variable
A triangle in which all sides and angles are the SAME length equilateral triangle
a mathematical rule that identifies a relationship between two sets . Each input produces only one output. function
a triangle with at least two sides of equal length and at least two angles are also equal. isosceles triangle
a variable in an equation show value can be freely chosen independent variable
the set of outputs of a function (the y value) range
A triangle whose largest angles measures between 90 and 180 obtuse triangle
Lines in the same plane that do not intersect. They remain the same distance apart. parallel lines
the number that represents the slant of the graphed line. THe ration of the rise to the run between any two points on the graph. slope
a round geometric surface whose points are all equal equal distance from its center. sphere
one of two equal factors of a number square root
An angle that measures 180 and thus forms a straight line. straight angle
transversal a line that intersects one or more other lines in a plane.
The amount of space a solid shape occupies. volume
the members of the set (0, 1,2,3,4,.........._ whole numbers
the horizontal number line of a coordinate plane x axis
the vertical number line of a coordinate plane y axis
figures that have the exact same size and shape congruent
The longest side of a right triangle. The side opposite the right angle. hypotenuse
A number that CANNOT be expressed as a ration (a fraction) irrational number
whole numbers and their opposites integer
the two sides of a right triangle that intersect to make the right angle. legs of a right triangle
a pair of adjacent(next to each other) supplementary (makes 180 degrees) angles. linear pair
angles that measure greater than 90 and less than 180. obtuse angles
the square of the hypotenuse in a right triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides. Pythagorean Theorem
numbers that can be expressed as fractions rational number
includes rational AND irrational numbers real numbers
a triangle in which two sides are perpendicular forming a RIGHT angle right triangle
a triangle with no equal sides or angles scalene triangle
a method of writing a number as a product of a decimal number between 1 and 10 to a power of 10 scientific notation s
