Pre-Algebra Chapter 6 Vocabulary

Scatter Plot a graph that uses isolated points to show the relationship between data
Positive Association/Correlation when x increases, y increases on a scatter plot
Negative Association/Correlation when x increases, y decreases on a scatter plot
No Association/Correlation when there is no relationship between x and y in a scatter plot
Nonlinear Association/Correlation when there is a relationship between x and y in a scatter plot, but it does not follow a straight path
Line of Fit a line drawn on a scatter plot close to most of the data
Two-Way Table A frequency table that displays two categories of data collected from the same source
Cluster a group of scatter plot points that are close together on a graph
Outlier a data point that differs significantly from the rest of the data
Gap a space between data points on a scatter plot
