Vocabulary Review G8

TermDefinition
Bar Notation A bar that is put over the repeating numbers, AFTER the decimal point.
Irrational Number A number that CANNOT be written as a fraction
Square Root A number made by squaring a whole number
Terminating decimal Is a decimal that ends. A finite number of digits.
Radical Expression An expression containing a radical symbol
Rational Number A number that can be written as a fraction
Repeating Decimal A decimal in which a group of numbers is repeated indefinitely
Hypotenuse The longest side of a right triangle. ( side c )
Leg The 2 shorter sides of a right triangle. ( a and b )
Like Terms Terms with the same variable and raised to the same power.
Constant A fixed value or a value that does not change
Coefficient A number used to multiply a variable.
Exponent Shows the number of times the base is multiplied by itself.
Base The number being multiplied by itself. The number immediately before the exponent.
