| equivalent ratios | ratios that name the same comparison. |
| numerator | the number above the bar in a fraction that tells how many equal parts of the whole are being considered. |
| rate | a ratio that compares two quantities having different units of measure. |
| ratio | a comparison of two numbers, a and b, that can be written as a fraction a/b. |
| unit rate | a rate expressed so that the second term in the ratio is one unit. |
| x-coordinate | the first number in an ordered pair; tells the distance to move right or left from( 0,0). |
| y-coordinate | the second number in an ordered pair; tells the distance to move up or down from(0,0). |
| decimal | a number with one or more digits to the right of the decimal point. |

| factor | a multiplied by another number to find a product. |
| percent | a comparison of a number to 100; percent means '' per hundred''. |
| quotient | the number that results from dividing. |
