Quarter 2 Math Vocabulary

| Currency | The official money, usually paper and coins, that a country uses to buy and sell things |
| Penny | One Cent |
| Penny | 100 of these make up one dollar |
| Penny | This coin is brown in color with President Lincoln on one side |
| Nickel | Five Cents |
| Nickel | Twenty of these make up one dollar |
| Nickel | This coin is silver in color with President Jefferson on one side and Monticello on the other side |
| Dime | Ten cents |
| Dime | Ten of these make up one dollar |
| Dime | Smallest silver coin with President Roosevelt on one side and a torch, olive branch and oak branch on the back |
| Quarter | 25 Cents |
| Quarter | Four of these make one dollar |
| Quarter | Can have variations but most feature President Washington on one side and an eagle on the back side |
| Factors | Numbers we multiply together; can be more than two |
| Product | The answer to a multiplication problem |
| Identity property of addition | The sum of zero and any number is that number (ex: 5 + 0 = 5) |
| Identity property of multiplication | The product of one and any number is that number (ex: 6 x 1 = 6) |
| Commutative property of addition | Changing the order of the addends does not change the sum (ex: 3 + 5 = 5 + 3) |
| Commutative property of multiplication | Changing the order of the factors does not change the product (ex: 6 X 5 = 5 X 6) |
| Quotient | The answer to a division problem |
| Dividend | The number being divided (the bigger number) |
| Divisor | The number you divide by (the amount of equal groups) in a division problem |
