constant of proportionality a constant ratio or unit rate of a proportion
corresponding parts parts of congruent or similar figures that matach
cross products if a/c = b/d, then ad = bc. If ad = bc, then a/c = b/d
dimensional analysis The process of including units of measurement when computing
indirect measurement Using the properties of similar triangles to find measurements that are difficult to measure directly
nonproportional a relationship in which two ratios are not equal
proportion a statement of equality of two or more ratios
proportional the ratios of related terms are equal
rate a ratio of two measurements having different units
ratio A ratio is a comparison of two or more quantities, usually written as a/b
scale The relationship between the measurements on a drawing or model and the measurements of the real object
scale drawing A drawing that is used to represent an object that is too large or too small to be drawn at actual size
scale factor The ratio of a length on a scale drawing or model to the coreesponding length on the real object
scale model A model used to represent an ojbect that is too large or too small to be built at actual size
similar figures figures that have the same shape but not necessarily the same size
unit rate A rate simplified so that it has a denominator of 1
