Cabbala A medieval system of interpreting scripture marked by mysticism.
Hasidic Means "piety". A branch of judaism that follows the Cabbala
Kaddish A prayer recited by those who mourn the dead.
Kapo German term for guards chosen from the population of the prisoners. .
Lagerkapo A kapo who was in charge of the whole camp.
Oberkapo in charge of a certain area of the camp- ranks between a kapo and a lagerkapo.
Pipel A young boy "assistant" who maintains special privileges.
Red Army Army of the Russian Soviet Republic
Rosh Hashanna A 2 day Jewish holiday that celebrates the creation of the world
Synagogue A Jewish place of worship
Yom Kippur The holiest Jewish holiday that asks for forgiveness of wrongdoing from God
Zionism Movement to establish a jewish state in palestine
Gestapo Secret police of Nazi Germany
Third Reich name given to hitlers regime from 1933-1945 which hitler himself believed would last for a thousand years.
Fuhrer Title given to Adolf Hitler, meaning "leader" or "guide" in german.

Ghetto A Jewish quarter in a city, walled of, consists of only jewish people
Gypsies nomadic people of indian descent targeted for extermination by the nazis
