| digit | any one of the ten symbols 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9 used to write numbers |
| not equal to (≠) | a symbol that indicates one quantity is not equal to another |
| compare | to describe whether numbers are equal to, less than, or greater than each other |
| equal to (=) | a symbol used to compare two quantities when the first is equal to second |
| greater than (>) | a symbol used to compare two quantities when the first is greater than the second |
| less than (<) | a symbol used to compare two numbers, with the lesser number given first |
| order | a particular arrangement or placement of things one after the other |
| place value | the value of a digit in a number, based on the location of the digit |
