Fundamental forces govern the interactions between all objects in the universe; gravitational, electromagnetic, strong nuclear, weak nuclear
gravitational force pulls objects with mass toward each other; weakest force; attractive force
electromagnetic force physical interaction that occurs between electrically charged particles; attractive or repulsive force
strong nuclear force binds protons and neutrons together to form a nucleus; strongest force; attractive force
weak nuclear force responsible for radioactive beta decay; weak force, only stronger than gravity; attractive force
fission a reaction in which the nucleus of an atom splits into two or more smaller nuclei
fusion two light nuclei merge to form a single heavier nucleus
