adjective A word that describes persons, places, or things
In a sentence, an adjective usually comes... just before the noun it modifies
predicate adjective when the noun is the subject followed by a linking verb, its adjective follows the linking verb as part of the predicate
a, an, the Adjectives that are articles...
"The" describes one specific item or items.
"A" and "an" refer to any one item of a group.
a consonant sound Use "a" before words that begin with...
a vowel sound Use "an" before words that begin with
Demonstrative adjectives adjectives used to point out something: this, that, these, and those (Remember, if the demonstrative word DOES NOT have a noun after it, it is a pronoun, not an adjective)
"This" and "these" refer to things that are close
"That" and "those" refer to things that are at a distance
Comparative Adjectives compares two things or people
Comparative Adjectives - one syllable add 'er (older)
Comparative Adjectives - more than one syllable use 'more' in front of the adjective (more beautiful)
Superlative Adjective - one syllable add 'est (oldest)
Superlative Adjective - more than one syllable use 'most' in front of the adjective (most beautiful)
Special Adjectives that compare good, better, best
Special Adjectives that compare bad, worse, worst
Special Adjectives that compare much/many, more, most
Special Adjectives that compare little (amount), less, least
