Text Features

TermDefinition
Table of Contents It helps the reader identify key topics in the book in the order they are presented. It is a located at the beginning of the book.
Headings They tell the reader what a section of text is about.
Subheadings They tell the reader what a section of text is about under a heading.
Illustrations They help the reader better understand a picture or a photograph.
Captions They help the reader better understand a photo or photograph.
Photographs They show the reader what something looks like in real life
Timeline They help the reader to see important events in order.
Charts/graphs They show information/data in a visual so that it is more easily understood by the reader.
