|---|---|
| Prime number | A number that has exactly two factors 1 and itself. |
| Divisor | The number that divides the divined. |
| Dividend | The number that is to be divided in a division problem. |
| Greatest common factor (GCF) | The greatest factor that two or more numbers have in common. |
| Common factor | A number that is a factor of two or more numbers |
| Prime factorization | A number written as the product of all its prime factors. |
| Factor | A number multiplied by another number to find a product. |
| Least common multiple (LCM) | The least number that is a common multiple of two or more numbers. |
| Equivalent fractions | Fraction that name the same amount or part. |
| Simplest form | A fraction is in simplest form when the numerator and denominator have only 1 as a common factor. |
| Reciprocal | Two numbers are reciprocals of each other if their product equals 1. |
| Multiplicative inverse | A reciprocal of a number that is multiplied by that number resulting in a product of 1. |
| Fraction | A number that names a part of a whole or a part of a group. |
| Compatible numbers | Numbers that are easy to compute with mentally. |
| Common denominator | A common multiple of two or more denominators. |
| Mixed number | A number that is made up of a whole number and a fraction. |
| Coordinate plane | A plane formed by a horizontal line called x-axis and a vertical line called y-axis. |
| Absolute value | The distance of an integer from zero on a number line. |
| Integers | The set of whole numbers and their opposites. |
| Opposites | Two numbers that are the same distance but in opposite directions, from zero on a number line. |
| Ordered pair | A pair of numbers used to locate a point on a grid. |
| Negative integer | Any integer less than zero. |
| Line symmetry | A figure has line symmetry if it can be folded about a line so that its two parts match exactly. |
| Line of symmetry | A line that divides a figure into two halves that are reflections of each other. |
| x-axis | The horizontal number line on a coordinate plane. |
| y-axis | The vertical number line on a coordinate plane. |
| x-coordinate | The first number in an ordered pair; tells the distance to move right or left from (0,0). |
| y-coordinate | The second number in an ordered pair; tells the distance to move up or down from (0,0). |
| Quadrants | The four regions of the coordinate plane separated by the x- and y- axis. |
| Rational number | Any number that can be written as a ratio a/b where a and b are integers by b is not equivalent 0. |
| Origin | The point where the two axes of a coordinate plane intersect; (0,0). |
| Positive integer | Any integer greater than zero. |
