The U.S. in WW1

Alliance countries form agreements to protect each other. If one country was attacked, its allies were expected to join the fight
Militarism the race to build the largest and strongest military. European countries wanted to build their military to become the most powerful and protect themselves
Nationalism Loyalty and support of one's own country. Citizens being loyal and devoted to their countries
isolationism a policy or desire to avoid being involved with, making alliances with, or agreements with other countries
Neutral not favoring, or siding, with either side in a war or fight
ambassador an official representative sent to a foreign country
