Types of Scans

AP Psychology Unit 1 Test

TermDefinition
EEG Depict the waves of electrical activity across the brains surface.
CT scan Shows structure of a certain area of the brain.
PET scan Visual display of brain activity that shows what occurs as the brain performs a task.
MRI scan Gives detailed images of the structure of the brain.
fMRI scan Uses magnetic fields and radio waves to create images that distinguish certain types of tissue and brain structure.
Plasticity The ability for our brains to form new connections after neurons are damaged.
