malady A sickness or unhealthy condition.
memoir An account based on the author's personal experiences.
paramount Most important; chief.
rectify To correct or adjust.
requisite Required; necessary.
squeamish Easily to be made to feel upset or sick to the stomach.
tract An area of land or water. A system of organs in the body that performs some function together. A pamphlet often expressing religious or political ideas; that seeks to persuade.
tribulation Great trouble or suffering.
vignette A short sketch that provides a clear picture.
