Sentence Types
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Dependent Clause | A clause that cannot stand alone as a complete sentence cause it doesn't express a complete thought |
| Independent Clause | A clause that can stand on its own and is a complete thought |
| Simple Sentence | A sentence with only one clause |
| Compound Sentence | A sentence with two or more clauses joined by a coordinating conjunction |
| Complex Sentence | A sentence with two or more clauses joined by a subordinating conjunction |
| Compound- Complex Sentence | A sentence with three or more clauses joined by a coordinating and subordinating conjunction |
| FANBOYS | A group of conjunctions (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so) |
