| Bodega | A small grocery store, often found in a neighborhood. |
| Fatigue | Extreme tiredness or exhaustion. |
| Hobble | To walk awkwardly or with difficulty, often because of an injury. |
| Incense | A substance that gives off a nice smell when burned. |
| Obituary | A short article that tells about someone’s life after they have passed away. |
| Parole | A special release from prison that allows a person to finish their sentence outside of jail. |
| Pueblo | A type of village built by Native Americans in the southwestern U.S. |
| Reminisce | To think back and talk about memories from the past. |
| Sliver | A thin, small piece of something, like wood, glass, or metal. |
| Solitary | Alone or in a place far from other people. |
| Sprout | To start growing, like a plant growing new leaves. |
| Stern | Very serious or strict in behavior or attitude. |
| Stoop | To bend down, often from the waist. |
| Teeter | To move back and forth in an unsteady way. |
| Trough | A long, narrow container that animals eat or drink from. |
| Towel | A small tool used for spreading or scooping, often used in gardening or construction. |
| Vacant | Empty; not being used by anyone. |
| Thrive | To grow, succeed, or do very well. |
