Fractures

Bone Fractures

QuestionAnswer
Transverse Fracture Fracture that is straight across the bone.
Oblique Fracture Fracture that runs at an angle across.
Spiral Fracture Fracture that circles or spirals around the shaft.
Comminuted Fracture A break into more than two fragments.
Closed Fracture A bone break without open wound on skin.
Impacted Fracture A part of the bone that impacts another bone.
Greenstick Fracture One side of the bone is broken, the other side is bent.
Complete Fracture A complete break through the bones that separates into two.
Open Fracture (compound) A fracture with an open wound.
Fissure Fracture Cracks in the bone.
Compression Fracture One bone compresses another bone.
