Uniform Circular Motion

QuestionAnswer
Motion along a circular path / arc. Circular Motion
Types of Circular motion Uniform and Non-Uniform
What is Uniform Circular Motion? Circular motion with constant speed.
What is Non-Uniform Circular Motion? Circular motion with changing speed.
Motion of an object traveling along a circular path at a constant speed but with changing velocity. Uniform Circular Motion
Acceleration has constant magnitude but varying direction. Uniform Circular Motion
Velocity and acceleration are always perpendicular Uniform Circular Motion
means center seeking. Centripetal Acceleration
Motion that repeat itself after a fixed time. Periodic Motion
Time for one revolution (revolution (one complete trip around the circle). Period (T)
When an object moves in a circle, it must accelerate
The acceleration directs toward the BLANK of the circle. centre
According to Newton’s 2nd law, there has to be a BLANK to produce such acceleration. force
This force must point toward the centre of the circle (Centripetal Force)
What is referred to as the number of revolutions completed by an object in a given time? Frequency
What do we call the time required for an object to make one complete revolution? Period
A body is said to be in rotatory motion if it moves about a fixed axis
A motion that repeats itself after equal intervals of time is known as Periodic Motion
OTHER TYPE OF MOTION Rotary motion and periodic motion

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
