| community | a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common |
| culture | the learned behaviors and attitudes of a society that form their way of life |
| arts and recreation | things we do in our spare time, after work is done |
| customs and traditions | behavior patterns that communities follow |
| government | an organized system that societies use to make decisions (like choosing rulers and making laws) |
| religion | the belief in a supernatural controlling power |
| technology | tools, knowledge and skills people use to make work easier |
| melting pot | people giving up their own cultural characteristics to take on the traits of the majority culture that is around them |
