Absolute Value The distance between a number and 0 on a number line; The absolute value of a number a is written as |a| Example: 5 |5|
Opposites Two numbers that are the same distance from zero, but are on different sides of zero Example: -8 8
Integer The set of whole numbers and their opposites
Additive Inverse The opposite of a number
Natural Numbers whole numbers excluding 0
Rational Numbers A number be written as a/b where a and b are integers and b = 0
Real Numbers The set of all rational and irrational numbers
Whole Numbers All positive numbers and zero
Repeating Decimals A decimal that has a pattern that repeats
Terminating Decimals A decimal that ends
