Scientific Method
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Hypothesis | a predicted solution to a problem; an educated guess |
| Theory | a hypothesis that has been proven true, but is not yet believed by everyone |
| Law | a theory believed to be true to everyone |
| Experiment | a test used to prove OR disprove a hypothesis |
| Variable | are any differences or changes in an experiment |
| Independent Variable | the factor/thing that is being tested in the experiment. *intentional difference* |
| Dependent Variable | measurable differences between the groups *data we collect* |
| Control | constant conditions kept the same between both groups; rules that everyone follows. |
| Data | the information collected during an experiment; usually measurable |
| Conclusion | summary of your experiment; you will state if your hypothesis was correct and your proof |
| Application | using the information in new situations; apply to new situations |
