| Hyperbole | An extreme exaggerations used to make a point | I could sleep for a thousand years. |
| Onomatopoeia | Word that are sounds | Crash! Boom! Buzz! |
| Personification | Human traits or characteristics are given to something non-human | The wind whispered through the trees. |
| Idiom | A figure of speech | Don't beat around the bush. |
| Pun | A play on words, usually meant to be funny (one word can have multiple meanings, or be a homephone) | ow do you "whoop" a rock? You hit rock bottom. |
