111.12-11.14; 111.16 Chemical Relaxing Exam

Used on natural, untreated hair to straighten the hair up to 85%: virgin relaxer service
Never use an ammonium thioglycolate on a client's hair if it has been previously treated with: sodium hydroxide
Ammonium thioglycolate is a chemical reducing agent that causes the hair to: soften
Relaxer strengths for ammonium thioglycolate: mild, regular, and super
Sodium hydroxide relaxers are also known as: lye relaxers
The pH of sodium hydroxide relaxers: 11.5-14
This protects parts of the hairstrand not being processed during a relaxer retouch: protective cream
This is applied to the hair to restore protein and/ or moisture lost during a chemical process: protein/ moisturizing conditioner
Performed to check for elasticity: a pull test
During a porosity test, if the hair feels rough, the cuticle is: open
Smoothing or combing, timing, and testing the hair: physical phase
Used on tightly curled hair: sodium hydroxide relaxers
