| law | A statement that describes a pattern observed in the natural world. Newton's 3 Laws |
| theory | A well tested explanation for experimental results. |
| independent variable | The factor you want to test. The factor that is "changed" in a scientific experiment. |
| dependent variable | The factor that is measured; the outcome. |
| mass | A measurement that refers to the amount of matter that makes up an object. |
| accuracy | Refers to how close a measurement is to the true or accepted value. |
| precision | Refers to how close measurements of the same item are to each other. |
| qualitative | Information that describes qualities or characteristics using words, not numbers. |
| quantitative | Information that can be measured or counted using numbers. |
| hypothesis | An educated guess or prediction that can be tested through experiments and observations. |
