Chemistry the study of matter, its composition, and its interactions
Matter anything that takes up space and has mass
Qualitative Property the property of what is observed but can’t be expressed numerically
Quantitative Property the property of a substance that can be represented numerically
Physical Property a change of state that can be seen without affecting others
Chemical Property a chemical property that needs to react in order to be described
Physical Change A change of state that doesn’t change into another substance
Chemical Change a change occurs when a reaction involves rearranging atoms
Pure Substance something that is only composed of 1 type of particle
Mixture a combination of 2 or more types of particles to create one characteristic list
Element a pure substance that cannot be broken down further
Compound 2 or more pure substance chemically bonded together in a fixed ratio
Solution a homogeneous mixture of a solute and solvent
Homogeneous describes something that is seen as 1 substance but made of more
Heterogeneous describes something that is seen as more than 1 substance
Solvent the thing that does the dissolving
Solute the thing being dissolved
Metal a substance that has metal properties (Alkali metals(group1), Alkali earth metals(group2))
Non-Metal a substance that has gas/non-metal like properties (Gases, Noble gases(group18))
Metalloid a substance that has metal properties and non-metal properties
