TermDefinition
Atomic Mass Average mass of atoms of an element,
Atomic Number The number of protons found in the nucleus of an atom, which uniquely identifies its element.
Chemical Symbol The abbreviations of chemical elements.
Metals Substances characterized by high electrical and thermal conductivity as well as by malleability, ductility, and high reflectivity of light. They form positive ions.
Groups The vertical column on the periodic table. The elements in the column have similiar properties.
Nonmetals The elements which easily form negative ions by accepting electrons and do not conduct heat and electricity
Metalloids Chemical element that forms a simple substance having properties of both a typical metal and a typical nonmetal.
