| Atomic Mass | Average mass of atoms of an element, |
| Atomic Number | The number of protons found in the nucleus of an atom, which uniquely identifies its element. |
| Chemical Symbol | The abbreviations of chemical elements. |
| Metals | Substances characterized by high electrical and thermal conductivity as well as by malleability, ductility, and high reflectivity of light. They form positive ions. |
| Groups | The vertical column on the periodic table. The elements in the column have similiar properties. |
| Nonmetals | The elements which easily form negative ions by accepting electrons and do not conduct heat and electricity |
| Metalloids | Chemical element that forms a simple substance having properties of both a typical metal and a typical nonmetal. |
| Periods | Horizontal rows on the periodic table |
