| Belie(verb) | failure to give a true notion or impression of (something); disguise or contradict. |
| Expository(adjective) | intended to explain or describe something. |
| Efficacy(noun) | the ability to produce a desired or intended result. |
| Desultory(adjective) | lacking a plan, purpose, or enthusiasm. |
| Licentious(adjectives) | promiscuous and unprincipled in sexual matters. |
| Maudlin(adjective) | self-pityingly or tearfully sentimental, often through drunkenness |
| Pervasive(adjective) | (especially of an unwelcome influence or physical effect) spreading widely throughout an area or a group of people. |
| Reverence(noun) | a feeling or attitude of deep respect tinged with awe; veneration. |
| Sardonic(adjective) | grimly mocking or cynical |
| Allusion | a literary device which creates interests through a brief, indirect reference (not a quotation) to another literary work, usually for the purpose of associating the tone or theme of the one work with the other. |
