COMPOUND a substance consisting of molecules that contain more than one kind of atom
CHEMICAL FORMULA a group of letters and numbers that represents a molecule of a compound
CHEMICAL CHANGE a change that results in the formation of one or more new substances
SOLVENT the part of a solution that dissolves other substances
SOLUTE the part of a solution dissolved by the solvent
CONCENTRATION how much of the solute is dissolved in a given amount of the solvent in a solution
RATE OF DISSOLUTION speed at which a solute dissolves in a solvent
ELEMENT a pure substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances
CHEMICAL SYMBOL letter(s) used to represent each element
PERIODIC TABLE a table that organizes the chemical elements
PHYSCIAL CHANGE a change that alters the form or appearance of matter but does not form any new substances
AQUEOUS SOLUTION a type of homogeneous mixture in which molecules of another substance are uniformly mixed with water
