Algebra Foundations

Algebra unit 1

TermDefinition
Inverse Operations The operation that undoes what was done by the previous operation.
Algebraic Expression an expression which is made up of variables and constants, along with algebraic operations (addition, subtraction, etc.).
Solution an assignment of values to the unknown variables that makes the equality in the equation true.
Standard Form The degrees of the monomial terms decreases from left to right.
Constraint restrictions (limitations, boundaries) that must be placed upon variables used in equations
Term Is a number, a variable, or the product of a number and 1 or more variables seperated by + and -.
Coeficient Is the numerical factor of the term. (The number before the variable)
Base a number or variable that is raised to a certain power.
Values a number signifying the result of a calculation.
Exponent The exponent of a number says how many times to use that number in a multiplication.
