| Statistics | The study of numerical data: collecting, organizing, and analyzing data to interpret it and answer questions .See statistical questions. |
| Variability | How spread out the values in a set of data are. |
| Statistical Question | A question that would be answered by collecting or analyzing data. |
| Range | The difference between a maximum and a minimum in a data set.It is a measure of how to spread out a distribution is. |
| Dot Plot | A number line long enough to encompass all numbers in a sample, showing a dot over the position corresponding to each number. |
| Maximum | highest or greatest amount or value. |
| Distribution | The distribution of data typically takes into account the range and spread of a data set. |
| Mode | A type of average. |
| Data Landmark | |
| Minimum | Lowest or least amount or value. |
| Median | A type of average which is the middle value of an ordered set of data values. |
| Average | An average is a measure used to find the location of the middle (central tendency) of a data set. |
| Mean | usually called the average and may be called the arithmetic mean. • the mean is the total of all the scores or amounts, divided by, how many scores or amounts there were. |
| Outlier | a value far away from most of the rest in a set of data. |
| Histogram | a graph using bars to represent frequency distribution where, • bar heights represent the score frequencies and • there are no spaces between the bars. |
| Cluster | numbers which tend to crowd around a particular point in a set of data values. |
| positive number | a number greater than zero. |
| Integer | a positive number, a negative number or zero but not a fraction or a decimal fraction. |
| Whole number | • a counting number from zero to infinity, |
| Negative Number | any number less than zero. |
| Rational Number | rational numbers are all integers, fractions, repeating decimals and terminating decimals. |

| Map Scale | |
| Opposite | |
| Ordered pair | a pair of numbers where order is important, for example, (4, 6) is different to (6, 4). |
| Quadrant | a quarter of a circle or its circumference. |
| X-coordinate | the position of a point according to the x axis. |
| Coordinate grid | |
| Origin | the point of intersection of the x and y axis on a coordinate or Cartesian plane. |
| Y- Coordinate | the position of a point according to the y axis. |
