Question
What is the Continuous Theory of Matter? The assumed theory that you could divide any substance in half over and over again, no matter how small the substance became.
What is the Discontinuous Theory of Matter? The corrected theory that matter is composed of tiny individual particles, which can be broken down to a point.
What is the Law of Mass Conservation? Matter can not be created or destroyed; it can only change forms.
What is Decomposition? Change that divides the matter in a substance into smaller bundles which then become individual substances.
What are Elements? Any substance that cannot be broken down (decomposed) into simpler components.
What is the Periodic Table of Elements? The table that compiles the most important information about each element.
What are Metals? Elements that are usually malleable (can be easily bent and shaped), have luster (are shiny), and are able to conduct electricity.
What are Nonmetals? Elements that are typically brittle (break easily when you try to bend or shape them), lack luster, and do not conduct electricity.
