Used to to say it happened repeatedly in the past
Was/were happening when something occurred to say what was happening when an action/event took place in the past
Internal states in the past (Emotion, Physical, Mental) to describe feelings/states in the past
Time to say "when" something happened in the past
Preterite to say an action was completed (begin/end) in the past
