| qualified immunity | when a court rules that police or government officials don't have to be held accountable or punished for breaking the law |
| internal investigation | when a company or agency investigates its own employees |
| process | a set of actions used to achieve a goal |
| grand jury | a jury that looks at evidence and decides whether someone is going to be charged with a crime ; grand juries don't decide guilt or innocence, just whether a case goes to trial or not |
