| First aid | the initial care given to stabilize and support someone with an injury or sudden illness until professional help arrives. |
| Emergency response | the immediate action taken to address and manage urgent situations, such as accidents or disasters, to ensure safety. |
| Basic life support | immediate care to maintain breathing and circulation until advanced help arrives. |
| Wound management | the care and treatment of injuries to promote healing and prevent infection. |
| Cardiopulmonary resuscitation | an emergency procedure to restore breathing and circulation in someone whose heart has stopped. |
| Choking | a blockage of the airway preventing breathing, often caused by food or an object. |
| Heimlich maneuver | an emergency technique used to clear a blocked airway in a choking person by applying upward abdominal thrusts. |
| Shock | a life-threatening condition where the body fails to circulate enough blood, leading to organ failure. |
| Trauma | severe physical injury caused by an external force, such as a fall, collision, or assault, which can damage tissues, organs, or bones. |
| Stroke | a medical emergency where blood flow to the brain is interrupted, leading to brain damage. |
| FAST | an acronym used to recognize stroke symptoms: Facial drooping, Arm weakness, Speech difficulties, and Time to call emergency services. |
| Heart attack | a medical emergency where blood flow to the heart is blocked, causing damage to the heart muscle. |
| Burns | injuries to the skin or other tissues caused by heat, chemicals, electricity, or radiation. |
| Cardiac arrest | a sudden loss of heart function, leading to a stoppage of blood flow and requiring immediate medical intervention. |
| Miraculous | something extraordinary or amazing that seems to be caused by a miracle or divine intervention. |
| Step-grandparents | the spouses of one's biological grandparents, but they are not biological grandparents themselves. |
| Pull out | to withdraw or remove from a situation, activity, or place. |
| Speak out | to express one's opinions or concerns openly and publicly. |
| Bandaged | covered or wrapped with a bandage to protect or heal an injury. |
| Scratches | are minor, thin marks or abrasions on the surface of something, often caused by a sharp object. |
| Jolt | a sudden, sharp movement or shock, often causing surprise or disturbance. |
| Stumble down | to walk or move awkwardly and unsteadily, often losing balance and possibly falling. |
| Trail | a path or track, often narrow and used for walking or hiking, that leads through an area. |
| Make out | to discern or perceive something with difficulty. |
| Flag down | to signal or attract the attention of a vehicle or person, typically by waving or signaling. |
