Character Conflict

6.5g Explains how character and plot development are used

QuestionAnswer
Character An imaginary person in a work of fiction.
Character development The method used by an author to create the person the story is about.
Character trait A distinguishing characteristic or quality of a particular character.
Characterization The method used by the author to give readers information about a character; a description or representation of a person's qualities, personality, or peculiarities.
Character conflict A struggle or problem the character is facing.
Internal conflict A struggle that the character is facing in their mind or heart and is not visible.
External conflict A struggle that the character is facing from outside sources.
Character vs. Character A struggle between two characters that are the same type.
Character vs. nature A struggle between a human and something in nature- could be a storm or animal.
Character vs. society A struggle between a human and some type of rule or law.
Character vs. self A struggle a human is having inside their own head or heart.
