| Anaphora | The repetition of words or phrases at the beginning of consecutive sentences or lines. |
| Cadence | Rhythmic flow of a sequence of sounds or words. |
| Novel of Character | The main focus is on the protagonist's thoughts, feelings, and motives. |
| Apheresis | The removal of sounds from the beginning of a word; syllabic loss. (EX: 'cause, 'nt) |
| Nihilism | Belief in nothing. |
| Anapest | Unstressed, Unstressed, Stressed. |
| Ballad | A poem or song narrating a story in short stanzas of 4 lines with abcb rhyme. |
| Aestheticism | Reverence for beauty. |
| Assonance | Repetition of vowel sounds. |
| Comic volta | A shift in argument or thinking in a story that creates a comedic effect. |
