| Didacticism | Philosophy that emphasizes the instruction/informative qualities in literature. |
| Sigmatism | Abnormal defective pronunciation. Or the repetitive use of the letter s. |
| Consonance | The repetition of the same consonant sounds in nearby words. |
| Polyptoton | Words derived from the same root are repeated. (EX: Strength, Strong.) |
| Logical Volta | Marks the logical change in thought or argument in a poem. |
| Clerihew | A comedic verse. |
| Chiasmus | Reversal of grammatical structures, but no repetition of words. |
| Altar Verse | Poem shaped to look like an altar. |
| Archaism | The use of deliberately old-fashioned language. |
| Analepsis | Flashback: depiction of earlier story points after later events have been revealed. |
