Light and Color
| Term | Definition |

| transmits | To pass something from one place to another. |
| reflects | To throw something back. |
| absorb | To take something in or soak it up. |
| transparent | A type of material that transmits light without scattering it. |
| translucent | A type of material that scatters light as it passes through. |
| opaque | A type of material that reflects or absorbs all of the light that strikes it. |
| primary color | One of three colors that can be used to make any other color. |
| secondary color | Any color produced by combining equal amounts of any two primary colors. |
| complementary color | Any two colors that combine to form white light. |
| pigment | A colored substance used to color other materials. |
